Question 94 sls, eliminating a/c pump

I had issue with the idler pulley, and the housing is beyond repair, I was just wondering if the route if of totally eliminating a/c pump and just getting shorter belt is possible? It seem to be only thing in way of connecting a shorter belt to vehicle. Are there any other functions involved with the a/c system that would effect vehicle?

The only other function is that the A/C is engaged when you go into the defrost mode so as to dry the windshield faster and obviously that would be eliminated. Other than that, nothing else is involved.

yes a shorter belt can be ran successfully but if it was anything like my experience the only belt that would not make a chirp noise was a goodyear gatorback belt and i believe the belt size 73 inch
