Take a look in your owner's manual, Specifications and Maintenance. You may find out that DENSO was the original plug in the engine. The newer AC Delco Platinum plugs for your engine - #41-950 - are made by DENSO - look at the box - "Made in Japan". (Same for my #41-987 - and my 2002 owner's manual lists the DENSO plug number, not the Delco)

Have you ever read the owner's manual section on features, headlights and Twilight Sentinel ?

The GM service manual for your car lists several transmission shift points for throttle openings up to 50% - tested at specific loads and throttle positions. Otherwise, shift points are a fast moving target.

Ok so I just spoke to my dad and he said you can change the struts if you want. My front ones are GONE, so those will have to go first. Im scared to drive my car on the freeway cause the front bounces a lot when going over a bump at higher speeds. My rear shocks, I can't really tell, but I've said many times my ELC doesn't work. I know to do the soapy water trick but do I need a car jack to raise the car so I can freely move under the car? My teacher has one so I will probably go this Saturday to check em out. Previously said my dad has a parts store, so should we get it from his suppliers or go online to rock auto, amazon, etcetera.... I remember a part number like 90011 and 40046 but what are they for? I think a year ago I asked about them, but wasn't serious. The car has 170k miles so what else should I get and what brand( polyurethane or rubber bushing) those type of answers. My front ones are the priority and I hope when I put the new suspension I'll have an easier time coping with it.

    ----------

Also a friend of mine is selling his 2004 sls 54k miles black on black, not in that great of condition.( am i allowed to do that^^^^)

You will be fine with bad struts, Drive the car and enjoy it because buddy welcome to the real world with cars, everytime you turn around there will always be something wrong with your current car. I know this from experience I too am currently running on bad front struts and I still drive the car like I stole it.

Not sure if this is correct, but doesn't driving on bad shocks wear out your tires more? And isn't it dangerous? This car has 171k miles and I'm scared to even go speeds above 60mph. Can a shock randomly give out? Like a sudden collapse? And is your suspension still original from 98?(mines a 98 )my bushings in the back are all cracked and the thought of me driving this like I stole it gives me shivers of how much $$$ I risk spending if something gives out.

I never noticed the tires wearing out quickly but worn out shocks i'm sure are dangerous and yeah I have seen shocks go out randomly. My suspension is half original, I have changed parts gradually my next big step is to change the front struts but thank god I have the FE1 suspension. My bushings in the rear are all cracked too. Anyway, I was your age when I got my first car which was this eldo and boy was with problematic but it never broke down on me (knock on Wood) and I fixed her all up and she has never ran any better.

Badly worn shocks can cause ecessive tire wear (cupping).

Can a shock randomly give out? Like a sudden collapse?
No. The shock doesn't support the car anyway. It simply dampens the rebound when you hit a bump or dip in the road to prevent you from bouncing down the road like a yo-yo (THAT would be dangerous and hard to control).

    --------------------------
doesn't driving on bad shocks wear out your tires more?
    YES - absolutely TRUE -

    isn't it dangerous?
    YES - also 100% TRUE -

Can a shock randomly give out?
    sure - HOWEVER - you must understand what a shock/strut does -

your car is supported by springs -
shocks and struts simply stop the springs from bouncing -

when a shock/strut wears out - the car bounces more than it should -
    --------------
    Like a sudden collapse?
    well - yes - sort-of -

IF you have a heavy load in the trunk - or rear seat -
the air bladders are inflated - to raise the rear of the car -
to maintain proper ride height - with that extra load -

IF one of the bladders or one of the air lines suddenly pops/leaks -
the rear could suddenly drop down -
to a point that the springs alone are holding the body up -
    --------------------

I remember a part number like
90011 and 40046 but what are they for?

    Monroe 90011 KIT -
this includes EVERYTHING - except new springs -
for BOTH SIDES - for the front of your car -

the best price today is $167.56 - with free shipping -
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...A1ATZ3MAARQNEF

    CAUTION -
Monroe is changing how this kit is sold -
the original 90011 KIT has everything for BOTH SIDES -
just like the kit I posted -

the new packaging have only one side -
90011-1 for the RIGHT - and 90011-2 for the LEFT -

I mention this just so you don't think you are getting a real deal -
and discover you only got one side -

    ---------------
    ANOTHER CAUTION -
    whoever does the installation -
MUST FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS TO THE LETTER -
if not - the front end will sit almost 2 inches too high -
    ---------------------------

the Monroe 40046 is the correct air-assisted rear shock for your car -
$102.78 each - with free shipping is the best price I found -
    http://www.amazon.com/Monroe-40046-R.../dp/B0047D9TS0

if the ELC system is not working properly -
    you can use the manual-fill kit - AK29 -
to inflate/deflate the rear shocks manually -
    the AK29 kit is $12 - also on amazon.com -

    ------------------

one more thing to consider - SPRINGS -
with 170k miles - the coil springs could be getting weak -

    I recommend MOOG springs -

    front -
    MOOG81086 - $59.16 for the pair - with free shipping -
    http://www.amazon.com/Moog-81086-Coi.../dp/B002VJYAQS

    rear -
    MOOG 81005 - $80.42 - with free shipping -

Ok I decided to tint my windows again. Anyone have a picture of an eldorado with window tints? I'm thinking about limo tints in the back 3 and 30% on driver and passenger window. The limit is 35% in California but I dont want my windows to look too different

If 35% is the limit, limo tint is illegal. You're a young kid, you WILL get pulled over.

It looks better when all the windows match anyway. Go 35% all around.

From what you have been saying it sounds that window tinting should be pretty low on your priority list.

"Attempted a WOT" I saw videos of a eldorado doing 0-60 and it was a lot peppier than my car. Isn't it supposed to downshift or something? Sorry for the horrible video was kind of hard recording and driving at same time.
