I just bought an '03 STS and got it home (in another state) and the trunk really smells of mildew. Can anyone provide any remedies?
Also, the Auto climate control is always on full cold (whenever A/C is enabled) no matter what the temp is set to, (below 90). Manually controlling the FAN helps, but if it's in Auto mode, it blows full COLD all the time.
Are there any DIAG codes related to the Auto climate control?
Again, any help is greatly appreciated. |

Seriously, the mildew may be a result of a water leak into the trunk that caused the carpeting or other parts to really get funky. I'd try removing as many of the removable parts as I could, lay them out in the sun, and wash them down real well with something that will also help kill the smell. And you'll probably want to make sure the trunk doesn't still leak. There have been posts about suspect weatherstripping on Seville trunks that need to be replaced...search the threads...

Not sure about about the A/C but as for the mildew in the trunk, if you have any wetness in there at all it may be a case of your sunroof draining hose being stopped up. The hose goes from your sunroof on both sides back through the back seats and then down to each wheel well. I had mine stuck a while back too but it was overflowing into my rear floorboard. What I did (and what they tell you not to do), is I took my air compressor and cleaned out the hose. You'll have to climb in the back of the trunk and pull out the little hose that is going down to the wheel well. Get a little bucket with you because it will have a little water come out if anything is stuck in there. So grab the hose and stick the air compressor nozzle in the tubing and press intermittently to lodge any trash from the system. Again, many will tell you this can knock the hose out of the track but I did it pretty rough and it worked.
As for your A/C, you may want to reset your PCM to see if the blower controls will work after that. |

How do I reset the PCM? |

If it is really plugged tight you might blow the tube off of the drain at the sun roof. You'll then have to dismantle the headliner to reconnect it. Try rodding it out with weed wacker line first. |

I was going to reset the PCM based on the previous message saying that resetting the PCM might help with the A/C always on full when on auto. That's why I wanted to know how to reset the PCM. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
