    New problem - 2001 SLS A I R

Our '01 SLS is now showing a po410 code, secondary air pump? I have been battling lousy handling problems -constantly steering to keep the car on my side of the road. I had similar, but not as severe , handling issues with our '94 SLS. I have done all the alignment, tire pressure checks, etc. to no avail. I sure could use a little (a lot) of input to get me pointed in the right direction on either or both of these problems.
    Thanks

Probably a bad AIR pump. Have you checked the fuse? Do you hear it run for the first 40 seconds after a cold start? Listen closely by the LF wheel well.

When the car was aligned they should (and usually do) check the front end. You obviously have some badly worn parts. Maybe a tie rod end?

Well ,Ranger, I have gone over the front end(s), as has the DMV. inspector and found all to be as it should. The air pump does moan at startup, mostly when it is not so warm. Thanks for responding.

Does it feel like there's play in the steering wheel? It may be a faulty intermediate steering shaft, or loose ISS clevis bolt.

Actually, everything seems to be right, but the car does not stay in a straight line without a lot of steering input. Add some wind, and it is downright scary.
    Thanks

Have you had a 4 wheel alignment done? If the rear is way off it may be having an affect on the steering.

Supposedly the alignment was a four wheel affair. I will, however, have it re-done at another facility.
    Thanks
