    1998 STS charging/battery problems

    I have a 98 Seville STS

current issue is in the charging/battery system
Recently the Battery started losing charge (battery only a few months old) so took it in to get tested
alternator was bad....had it replaced then it was reading a voltage of 16.5 and that the charging system needed to be serviced
while the engine on n running the door controls (windows, locks, mirrors and even seat controls) would not work
while the car was off but key in aux everything works perfect!
Had the used alternator rebuilt and installed still having exact same issue
could this be a simple ground issue? or problem with the wiring that'll have to be traced?
    thank you for any assistance

You might want to check the regulator wiring at the alternator, they must have a good contact in order to work well. Had the same thing going on when that plug got disconnected accidentally.

Re: 1998 Cadillac Seville STS charging/battery problems

Ive also read that connected to the positive battery cable is a thermister and adding a resistor to this can potentially solve the problem?
anyone have any luck with this soluition?
    thank you

Re: 1998 Cadillac Seville STS charging/battery problems

Update...I've disconnected the thermister that's connected to the positive battery cable
This lowered my voltage from 16.5 to between 13.8 - 15.1
But now it fluctuates between that and my lights slightly flicker
Is there a way to bypass this or add like a resistor to it?
    Thank you

I'd still check that regulator plug and wires, seems to me something got screwed while changing the alternator...
