Check the lower control arm stabilizing bar bushings.

Re: 1998 seville sts Passenger front rattle

Thank you I will check that, the noise is hard to explain. when you ride down the road it's like thump thump thump thump thump thump, if that helps.New struts and mounts would be stiff at first, but I would think I would hear it on both sides if that were the case! In other words it's not continuous, but often especially going over bumps, and it was there before the new struts. my mechanic thought it was the mount. They were still bad and needed replacment

Sounds like sway bar link bushings, but that should have been obvious to whoever changed the struts.

That's sad if that's the case.. Is the sway bar link the same thing as the lower controll arm stabilizing bar bushings?

The stabilizer "bushings" (insulators) are #29.

The link bushings are either #19 or 20 and come included in the #37 kit.

Wow thank you so much for the detailed information!!!!!

    ----------

So the bushing would make a rattling noise when driving if bad, and not the sway bar link???

Either one could be the culprit.

    The links fail more often.

Thanks again, I bought the link rebuild kit, I could for the sake of it change the bushings as well

Rebuild kit? Links are sold as assemblies. The bushings are what fail, but unless you're buying poly upgrade bushings, they're usually not sold separately.

Sorry, it's a sway bar link with bushings and such. Has a long bolt 4 rubber type bushing looking things, about a 1" spacer, nut, 4 caps or washer looking things

Well, back to ground zero.. My friend Don at Don't automotive put the car on lift. Sway bar is tight, bushings are good. Sway bar links have been replaced, but tight , no movement.

Bushings (#29) may not be obviously bad upon visual inspection, especially when up on the lift.
