    RS0060 Code

I have been pouring over the past discussion of this code.

    I have a '96 Eldorado (SUbmariner's favorite year

RS0060 - Left Front Position Sensor Fault - Current

It was in my History but it came up Current again today.

Some folks creatively bypass the sensor by rewiring, I will first try to clean it.

Is this the sensor in the strut? Is it anything to really worry about?

    Thanks

There are no sensors in the struts. The sensor is in the wheel well, connected to the lower control arm with a small connecting rod.

The stability system and RSS system will be disabled if the code is current.

If you don't know where the sensor is, how do you know someone's messed with the wiring?

MC, I was referring not to my car but to a discussion I found about working around this sensor.

    Re: RS0060 Code

Hmmmm ............. C 0060 is "LF ABS solenoid circuit #1 malfunction" in the OBD2 DTC list. "RS0060" is not a DTC.

RS C codes (suspension parts height and function) don't begin until 05XX.

OBD1 was used until 1996, then the codes changed over to OBD2 (OBD-II). Some 1996 (early) vehicles use a weird mix of DTCs.

    Re: RS0060 Code

'96 has a combination of OBDI & OBDII
I think it is an OBDI S code (Road Sensing Suspension (RSS) Codes).

    Re: RS0060 Code

My Eldo was made in Feb. of '96, right on the cusp and it is tough to figure this out. I am going by the others before me who have had a RS0060 and call it a Left front Pos. Sensor. Some folks drop the R and call it a S060 code... I can't find a list anywhere for RS or S codes. I am gonna clear the codes and see what happens.

A 4 number code is OBD II. RS translates to a C code.

    Re: RS0060 Code

February of 1996 was 4 months before the end of the '96 model year. Technically, your car is a "late" 1996 model.

This is November of 2013 and many of the "2014" models have been on the street for 4 months already.

    Re: RS0060 Code

Thanks very much. I cleared everything and will see what comes back on tomorrow's commute. I did manage to swap out my tattered dog bone torque struts today.

C0060 - Left Front ABS Solenoid #1 Circuit Malfunction

So is this a problem with the sensor or the actual hardware?

No, if your code is S060 then it's an OBDI code for .............................................. Left Front Position Sensor Fault. Give us the exact code you have. Is it S060 or C0060?

It's an electrical problem in the solenoid circuit. It could be the solenoid inside the EBTCM, circuitry, or a wire external to the EBTCM. I'd try inspecting and cleaning the connector first.

It comes up as "RS 0060 Current" I did clear the codes and will see what comes up again.

    Re: RS0060 Code

That sounds like an OBDI code which would be S060......... Left Front Position Sensor Fault. An OBDII code would have a P, B, C or U prefix.
