I'm not sure how you use Diagnostic mode for programming the remote (would love to know how though). If this was directly related (AC stopped working after programming the remote) then I would look IPC Override at the Option sections under IPC in the Service Manual. I successfully de-activated my phone (which was controlling the left side steering wheel paddles) through these.
If you don't have the service manual, I can probably send you the section via e-mail.
I have a remote that I purchased and have no idea how to program it...a Chevy dealer wanted to charge me $100

. Can you send me the instructions, please?

Thanks, and good luck!
P.S. One time, I accidentally disconnected a ground cable to the engine (while replacing the infamous blower motor), and then no sound was coming from the stereo. The DTC referred to a problem with ground, and also a "no signal from amp.

" I fixed the ground to no avail... until I thought to disconnect the negative battery for about a minute, then reconnect it. Stereo worked again!
