2000 STS - Change only head bolts with new gaskets ?

    hi
    my caddy is..
    2000 seville sts 4.6 158,000km
    and
    have a over-heated promblem

i will try to change head bolts just only, because head-repair cost is very high( at least over $4,000~)

my caddy's value is a about $5,000~$6,000 at used car market in south-korea

it is a why i will try to change head bolts just only with opened camshaft cover

is it usefull for over-heated engine problem?

    thank you..

    Re: is it useful thing?

If you just replace the head bolts it will more than likely happen again. The threads have stripped causing them to lift out. Your best bet is to do it right the first time and just stud it.

pplpp99, I changed your thread title to be more descriptive.

I suggest you read the several sticky threads on this question in the Engines: Northstar forum.

The problem isn't the bolts, it's the threads in the block. Old bolts or new, they'll have nothing to thread into. You either have to fix it correctly, or get rid of the car.

Harry Maeng is in S Korea now, and can possibly help him with some hands on sight into the issue.

I doubt Harry has much free time on his hands. Is the OP from South Korea?

    P.S.
    Heed MC's advice.

I knew that. My comments where just tongue in cheek, except for the say HI part.

Apparently the long arm of the draft knows no boundaries.
