    97 Head gasket

Using coolant, rough cold start, blowing white smoke. I think this car is done. The car runs and drives perfect not sure what I should do with it. Any suggestions? The body is good, engine runs fine with aforementioned issues, everthing else works. No engine codes, only one body code. What should I do with it? 165000

You have all the symptoms. Minimum repair cost will be about $2000. Tough call on a '97 with 165K.

What damage will I do if I keep driving it? As long as it does not over heat.....drives fine after a warm up period.

No damage unless it starts consuming enough coolant to hydrolock.

What is hydrolock? The coolant mixes with the oil or what?

    Re: 97 Head gasket

Hydrolock is when enough coolant gets into the cylinder that it fills it when at TDC. Coolant, being a liquid is not compressible so something has to give as seen below. Rod broke and came through the side of the block.

Hydrolock can also occur when "mechanics" get carried away with various cleaner sprays and carbon cleaning fluids. (Fortunately the Northstar intake manifold - lower log runner - holds a LOT of fluid)

That is exactly how the above happened. Ring cleaning procedure that went wrong.
