    Question Gearshift Knob

Hi, does anyone know how to remove the gearshift knob on a 1987 Seville? Mine is really beat up, I have a different one, but it doesnt have the push switch on the side, does this matter? Can i bypass the switch and use my other one?

Pull the gear shift down to low gear. You will see a slot along the front of the knob. Using a small pocket flat blade screwdriver, reach in there and remove what looks like a large staple. That allows the knob to raise up and off. Without the button, I doubt you will be able to move the shifter from park.
