Governor is controlled by the PCM, you would need to have it re-programmed to override it. GM installed the governor to prevent you from exceeding the saftey rating of the OEM tires. Since it is a safety "feature" it's not defeatable, unless you could find a dealer that would be willing to "flash" your PCM with the VIN of a vehicle equipped with the Z Rated (150 MPH) tire option.

Correct me if I am wrong.

Correct you are, but good luck finding a dealer that'd do it. Liabiltity nightmare if they got caught or if you got in a wreck at those speeds... Find yourself a Z-rated like me!

Yeah, if a trial lawyer is reading this he'd be salivating by now.

Look on the "Tire Rating" tag on the driver's side door (near the latch mechanism). It will give the O.E.M. tire size/rating/inflation pressure info, along with build date and VIN.

Not a chance, unless you're friends with someone on the inside...read the above...huge liability for them if you get yourself in trouble after they alter your car to be able to do that...

There are plenty of aftermarket tuners that will reprogram your PCM for you. Just remember that the speed limit of your tires "should" be adhered to for your own safety.

Not likely, as the STS/ETC with the 150 MPH option and Z rated tires also has different vehicle ID, and different emissions from the non Z rated vehicle.

Bottom line, it is not just a few pushes into memory, it would require some major program changes, not to get into the liability factor. That is a federal rap, not just a slap to the local keyboard.

"True" HID conversions are becoming harder to come by as many states, and if my understanding is correct, have banned their sale. However many people find that the Sylvania Silverstars give them the "look" they want without the cost of a true HID conversion.

To answer your question directly, I don't know a direct source.

I wasn't aware of any 'tuners', for OBD II ('96-up) Cadillacs. Can you list some sources? I'd love to have one for mine.

I don't "personally" have any experience with any but have read about them in magazines. I would probably start with Fastchip.com. There are also ads in magazines that "claim" to be selling tools that can re-flash current model PCM's and remove speed limiters. I think HyperTech offers this as well.
