Yes, the gold playing had worn off, they're getting replaced with the top.

I went to the upholstery shop yesterday. There were 2 diamond pattern materials available, one is discontinued (and of course it's the one I have. They wanted me to take a look at a sample. I actually think I like it better. I'll upload pictures later.

$1,386.xx is the total (plus ~$80 for the new gold snaps). The appointment is April 2'nd.

Yeah, the more I talk to the guy at the shop, the more I like him a d the more confident I am that it'll be done correctly.

The fabric at the bottom of the picture is the new fabric.

The original material is many small, raised diamonds on a plain "background". This is flatter, and the diamonds are a bit larger. I think I like it a bit better. Better than plain anyway.

Found a set of 20 gold "snaps" and screws on Ebay with a 3 year warranty for $74.90 shipped. My car has 18, so I'll have 2 extras.

Leaving soon to drop the car off at the upholstery shop.

I don't think I brought this up before, but when I got the car, you could see the red paint around the perimeter of the sunroof opening, and around the "door pieces". So I bought blackout tape and taped the edges, tucking it under as best I could. I asked the shop if they could put it on while the roof was off, and they said yes.

So last night, I went to Pep Boys, who has always carried it... Nothing. Tried Auto Zone and Advanced, nothing. Today, called about 10 more places, body shops, body shop suppliers, even had my mother helping (she even called Chris, lol). Finally found it, in a 2"X150' bulk roll!!! $30. AND it has to be there tomorrow, so another $30 for overnight shipping directly to the shop... So much for a $7 roll of tape, lol.

    ----------

Also, I spent a few hours buffing the car today. I figured I would do it while the old roof was still on so I wouldn't have to worry about taping off the edges (it's a PITA because painters tape hardly sticks to it). Reflection off of the trunk lid:

Nice it was a lovely day today, Good depth - too bad I was under mine doing a lower ball joint - They really were a$$ backwards when they came to designing some of these solutions.

If you liked this one, you should read some of my other threads. Lots of "interesting" experiences I've had with this car.

    ----------

The shop called earlier, letting me know it's going well. They were almost ready to start putting things back together (they started ~10:00 Tuesday morning).

However... They also said its leaking oil. It was on the ground when they pulled it into the shop, and it's dripping in the shop. That's a new problem, there's never a drop under it when I park it at home .

In any case, it should be done tomorrow.

The engine was fully revealed before it was studded. I'm hoping for something simple.

He spent some extra time installing it. He wants to let it sit longer so I'll pick it up Monday. No big deal.

They took some pictures while the shell was off. They said there were some minor scratches from the removal tools, which is normal (could have been them or the hack that took it off before). Nothing down to the metal, but he primed/painted them anyway.

The car's done. Looks good, I'll post pics when I can.

The oil leak is pretty bad. Looks like the oil pressure switch is the problem.
