So now I have to meet a rep from the insurance company at the glass shop so everyone can look at it. Earlier today, inches of the material started peeling of in two different areas around the back window. Honestly, I wish the whole thing would just tear off so there'd be nothing to inspect and argue about, and they could just go after the guy who did the job for the cost if replacing it.

More of this back and forth crap is exactly what I didn't want to be doing. This is why O wanted a reputable shop to do the work.

It's dark, I'll post pics tomorrow.

I did at least get the car washed today. I HATED having all the salt on it.

Oh, did I mention the tops of both quarter panels are scuffed and one is scratched?

Material not far enough over to allow the binding to tuck in:

See the exposed fiberglass at the bottom?

A gap all across the top, and the shell moves up and down:

Gap across the bottom, worst in the left side:

    Look loose?

    It is:

This one didn't come out so well. It's ripped and frayed:

Also, notice there're some little dots on the material? The car has been washed twice. I think what happened is that the rubber membrane tore off in places, and the adhesive saturated the material in those spots.

Nice...looks like something I did in the back yard. For all that we pay for insurance this stuff pisses me off that it can't be fixed right the first time or by whom it should be fixed.

Well the insurance company supervisor came earlier today. He said, and I quote, "well you went to the place we recommended, so it's on us". He also took the name of the upholstery shop I went to originally.

Between that, and the answers I was getting to the other questions I was asking him, I'm kinda getting the impression that they're going to replace it, though he didn't just come out and say that. He was apologetic though.

The insurance company hav one upside to when you go to a shop they recomend they will fight with you to get the job done right if you go to a shop they don't recomend and u still choose on your own and they screw up the work the insurance doesn't usually do anything to help you get it done right

Here's how it fit before the work was done. you can see the glass is still shattered.

    Bottom:

    Top:

The binding was nice and flush with the glass. Except for the lower left corner. The guy at the upholstery shop accidentally pushed on the glass while he was looking over the car and pushed the corner in a little. Before that it was flush all the way around. You can see the tape on the left side of the glass in the second picture.

The guy at the glass shop knew I was concerned with having a cheap job done. He told me "This guy does it all the time and he does great work". When I went to pick it up, before I saw it, he said to me "It looks just like it did when it got here".....

I don't understand the rips. How someone who "does it all the time" could screw it up that bad is beyond me. i mean who was this guy?

    Maybe.....
