Yeah the crack's pretty nasty, right where the bead sits. I looked into wheel repair before I bought the new set of Stardusts. Nobody local wanted to deal with rechroming. Maybe I'll give it another whirl, but the rim's already ordered. I appreciate the suggestion though.

I'm going to call Lynn city hall tomorrow and find out how I go about being reimbursed.

Good luck, ever city i know of you have to prove they knew about it and didn't fix in reasonable amount of time.
I blew a tire years ago and got laughed at when I tried to collect from the city.

    Re: More of my "luck"...

    So back to the window.

The insurance company called earlier, different guy... "The repair is covered and approved for $1,3XX.XX"

"But the repair is over $2,200."

"Well we only allow $350 for the roof."

"Now I'm back where I was at the beginning. Who's supposed to pay for the rest?"

    "You are."

Long story short, I told him that's not what I've been being told, he got an attitude and I asked to speak to his superior.

His boss called me and apologized, guaranteed me there'd be no put of pocket expense.....as long as I used one of their " preferred" shops....which are GLASS SHOPS, NOT UPHOLSTERY SHOPS...

I told him I'd call a few, and let him know if any would touch the roof. He said we'd figure something out either way.

So I start making calls, being told no by everyone... Got to a company called Alliance glass, and the woman says "You're not going to find a glass shop that'll so it, you need an upholstery shop". I told her I know, and explained the situation. Get this: This woman, who has nothing to do with the insurance company, and knows I'm not going to have the glass replaced by her company, took it upon herself to get in touch with the guy I last spoke to at my insurance company, and explain to him that their regular preferred glass shops won't be able to do it. She then told me she'd call back in an hour to make sure he called me (which she did, and he hasn't), and now she's going to call me back again in an hour..... ACTUAL CUSTOMER SERVICE! Above and beyond!

    Re: More of my "luck"...

Why doesn't the glass shop just sub-out the upholstery job and throw it under their invoice? Then it would be "approved"

    ----------

What sort of rims do you have again MoistCabbage? Stock 17's? What style?

    ----------

    nvm those are Vogues -

Technically the upholstery shop is subletting out the glass replacement. That's how the insurance company told me to do it, and now they're making excuses.

They're 17" Stardusts Jake. Only 1 set of 18's with Vogue tires, and 1 used 17" on Ebay now. Town Fair tire can source them new, but not cheap.

Good news - Got $19 whole dollars for the bent rim at the scrap metal place.

Not good news - Someone whacked my drivers mirror. The glass is still attached, but wobbles all over the place...

You know, you should really start to think about writing a book; a book about your luck and your stories! I will definitely buy that book! That should be a hell of a book.

Don't forget, you guys only get the car related stories. My whole life is full of bad luck and movie moments

Got a Jury duty notice today...

Not the first time either. A few days after I turned 18 I got one. But it couldn't be a normal case, oh no. Grand jury for a murder case. Some ridiculous estimation of a 6-8 month trial or something like that. When the day came for the juror selection, They tell us they screwed up and sent out 3 times as many notifications as they were supposed to. There were over 100 people there. There weren't nearly enough seats outside of the courtroom, standing room only. We waited for hours, people ended up sitting and laying on the floors of the hallways. The only good part is that since there were so many people, they picked enough people well before they got to the "S" names (Shea). So I never even had to get "interviewed". The whole process still took over 6 hours, and all I had to pass the tile was my RAZR flip phone. "Snake" gets very boring, very fast...

    ----------

Just got in the car... Headliner wet, passenger sway drenched.

The sunroof drains were cleaned about a month ago.

WHY DOES THIS CAR LIKE WATER???

It's supposed to rain and snow for the next 3 days.
