Does anyone know which motors are compatible with this car?? It is a 98. Can I put a 3.8 in here? If not can I use a DTS motor? Can i only use one out of a eldo/seville?? Answers please?
Because I heard the Northstar is prone to oil leaks. Im not 100% on doing a swap but just trying to see is it possible or could i use a motor from like a 00-01 seville or eldorado. Yes is a Base eldo
Yes im looking at it now. I bought the car and it runs hot after awhile so i was tryin to see which would be more cost efficent. Well can i at least use a ETC motor on a base? Or a 99 base in a 98
No, you cannot swap a VIN Y (LD8) for a VIN 9 (L37) or vice versa.
Remember the '99 has the worst HG failure record. If you replace the motor with an untouched one, you may have the same problem down the road. If you replace the motor it would be advisable to pull the heads, drill and tap the bolt holes and insert or stud it. Not doing so is kind of like playing Russian Roulette. In the words of Dirty Harry, "Do ya feel Lucky"?
Models with comparable (VIN Y) engines are listed in
