95 Eldorado and 2001 Eldorado: Are the interior panels and dash, same or different?

Eldorado Senior Members: I have a question about interchangeability between Eldorados of different years.

My Mom loves my "new" to me 02 so much so that I'm going to try to buy one for her, too.

I have the opportunity to buy a 95 for parts, and use them in a 2001 ESC. Specifically, I want to take the following parts out of the 95:
    1. Interior door panels and seats.
    2. CD Changer, right now the 01 has only a cassette unit. I want to know if I can just plug the CD changer into 01.
    3. The K Carriage Cross Carriage in the rear is rusted bad. I will try to add a picture of what I mean.
By the way, I am reserching this for my own education. I have heard that I can even take a buick K Cross Carriage, that thing where the ELC compressor is attached, and there are rear wheels on both sides.

    4. Sensors will be pulled as spares?

If anyone has any experience in doing this hybrid project, please chime in.

    Jack

can't help on the specifics -
but I can help guide you WHERE to find some answers -

I/we use this site for part numbers and parts illustrations -

    http://www.gmpartsgiant.com/

click on Cadillac - Eldorado -

open a new window for 1995 - select base or touring - click search -
scroll down to - and click on INTERIOR TRIM, FRONT SEAT TRIM, SEAT BELTS -
scroll down to - and click on SEAT ASM/FRONT -

that will open a list of parts and part numbers -
click on the BLUE OVAL "View Info" -
that opens a new window -

click on the ORANGE VIEW -
that gives you the parts break-down -
    ------------------

leave all that stuff open -

now go back and open another window for 02 Eldo -
and follow the same steps to get to the same parts illustrations -

now you can compare parts - and part numbers -

'92-'95 Eldorado's had different dashboards, seats, trim, etc. The '96-'02 Eldo's had a more rounded dashboard with different controls.

    '95 Eldroado:

Re: 95 Eldorado and 2001 Eldorado: Are the interior panels and dash, same or differe

From my personal experience swapping 99 panels into my 93 (which "nearly" works) depending on which 95 dash you have (early/late) if the ac/heater controls are next to the inst cluster, the dash pad will work, the dash trim will work, but the full dash I'm not sure on. Seats will be close enough that you will think a direct swap, but they are not. The wiring harness under the drivers seat needs to be retrofitted with the 99 harness if you are going to put the 95 seat in. the passengers side will work as0is. The center console is a bit of a different story... I"m in the middle of working the bugs out of making a 99 console work in a 93, but dont have all the kinks ironed out yet. but I CAN tell you that you will need the matching shifter assembly to the console... i.e. 95 console requires 95 shifter, the 99 simply wont fit ocrrectly...

Hope this helps... if you are looking for more specifis, I can answer your questions as best as I possbily can...

    1995 = OBD1
    2001 = OBD-II

Totally different engine controls, engines, sensors, calibration, wiring, connectors, you-name-it. Leave the 1995 as-is where-is.

Thank You. The mark of experience seems to clearly show, leave well enough alone. My mom will have to wait a bit longer.

Hi Tankboy40, I am still finding my way here on this forum. Pardon me if I make Forest Gump type mistakes. No intentions to offend or upset. I
know as a senior member on my M5 BMW forums that I had to exercise a lot of patience with newbies. So, going full circle, I just ask that you will be patient with me, too. At the very least, please accept my apology if I goof up. I will try my best to make my learning curve as painless as possible.

    Sincerely,
    Jack

Re: 95 Eldorado and 2001 Eldorado: Are the interior panels and dash, same or differe

It wasnt you I was referring to Jack... no big deal..

I had a 97 in the past that i loved... i own a low milage 93 now which had an interior color i didnt care for... bought a 99 parts car which had the color interior i wanted and i'm working to get it all installed...

alot of the parts are close, and with a little modification, most will work.As for the ones that will/wont.. ask me, i'll tell you.
I know this because I am doing it with my own car...

    for real, in real life...

not going by part #'s or diagrams...

if that was all that could be done... there would be no hot rods, or custom cars....

    IMHO

    ----------

it all depends on how badly you want it, and if you are willing to do the work to make it happen.

He asked about pulling/saving early 90's sensors for a much later car - I made NO comment on interior parts.

    ????

In his Post #1 - "4. Sensors will be pulled as spares ?".

Even you know that sensors from a 95 won't work in a 2001, and I said so. Did I say the interior swaps would/wouldn't work ?

gee - sounds like SOMEONE is having a bad day -
    lighten up -
    ---------------------
I have no experience swapping interior parts on an eldo -
so - I suggested comparing part numbers -
along with where/how to obtain those part numbers -

and - for some reason - YOU have a problem with that?
