Couldn't Really Find An Answer Anywhere But Im New To The Forums And Just Recently Purchased An Eldorado. I'm Looking To Replace The Speakers I Just Don't Know The Exact Size Of Them? I Think They're 5.25 In The Doors And 6X9s In The Rear. Can Anyone Help? It's Only 4 Speakers Correct? (PS Sorry Every Word Is Capitalized My Phone Does This For Some Reason And I Can't Fix It.. Lol) Thanks In Advance.
If is BOSE sound system it has 6x9 in the back and 4" in the front (total 4 speakers). The BOSE speakers do have individual (mono) amplifiers so what you may refer as speaker is actually an assembly of speaker + amplifier.
If is base sound system then it has 6x9 in the rear and 5.25" in the front with I believe 2" tweeters. (a total of 6 speakers).
There is a huge difference between the two sound systems and NONE of the components are compatible with the exception of the steering wheel controls and the CD Changer.
In a BOSE sound system you can't just replace the speakers with any other speaker, these speakers are very low impedance (2 ohms). In a base sound system replacing the speakers is easier as the impedance is a standard 4 ohms.
As far as I know for the BOSE sound system other than the OEM BOSE speakers your only other option is Infinity 2 ohm.
You can tell if is BOSE or base based on the presence of the BOSE logo on the HU screen (bottom left corner), or if you have In-Dash CD slot, RDS radio, DSP controls. None of these are available on the base sound system. Well that and the presence of the RIM in the back of the rear seat rest and the 4 wires going to the speakers and the 2 extra AMP relays, and the AMP fuse and the enclosure for the front speakers/amplifiers.
ESC being the base model is unlikely to have BOSE sound.
I believe there is a sticky with the speaker size in various years and models in the Audio section of the forum. Should not be hard to find all the information you need and some.
