    2000 ETC - Theft System warnings

    Receiving current message: THEFT SYSTEM PROBLEM CAR MAY NOT START I have had the 2000 ETC since it was 2 yrs old and never heard of this message or what my (cheap) options maybe. Any thoughts? Thanks!

    Look at the pellet on your key, its worn down the ignition cylinder might need replacing

    Cheap solution >>>HERE<<<
    Is to be considered temporary solution until the defective parts are replaced/fixed.
    As Vincentm notetd above we are talking either of:
    1. Ignition key resistor contacts worn or very dirty - new ignition key with matching VAT
    2. Ignition cylinder contacts (worn, or broken wires) - new ignition cylinder + new matching key with matching existing VAT
    3. Harness issues between ignition cylinder and IPC (main culprit would be the big connector underneath the steering column).

    Most likely problem is no 2.

    I have the same issue right now, i have a new AC Delco ignition cylinder sitting in a box, for weeks now , just no info on how to replace it, in Alldata, ive asked here before but no response, i figure i can replace my turn signal switch new wiper pump wont work) as well when doing the Ignition Cylinder.
