    2k eldo window motor replacement

I need to replace the drivers side window motor in my2k eldo. I was looking at the fsm and it talks about removing spring tension before removing the motor. How do you do this. And how do you wind it up again. The fsm says nothing about this. On my 85 eldo I ran a bolt through part of window lift mechanism to secure the spring tx for the help!

Re: 2k eldo window motor replacement

I replaced the motors in my 98 Eldo which was simple. I put the window down first. The motor slides off three studs after removing the three nuts and unplugging the connector.
If there's tension on the motor's gear, you'll find it difficult to remove the motor. To remove the tension , you have to pulse to window switch a little upward until the motor becomes loose. You may have to do the same when putting on the replacement depending on the gear position.

I refuse to believe you were asking if the motor could be accessed through a >1/2" wide slit.

We're you asking if the lowered window would block access to the motor once the door panel is removed? If so, then yes, it would.

Once you remove the door panel, (two screws then lift off the door.. do not pull outward or you'll break the clips), the motor is directly beneath the metal bracket where one of the screws was removed. In my 98, the motor is accessible regardless if the window is up or down and assume it's the same for your 2k Eldo. If you want to email me a private message, I can send you a picture showing it's location.

Lift door panel, do not pull out. On Seville, u can pop off speaker grille and see plastic panel clips on door panel bottom. I assume eldo panel is same design as Seville? There is 1 screw in corner behind hidden flap. Those GM interior designers are sneaky

Re: 2k eldo window motor replacement

Eldo guy, send me your email via private message and I'll send some pics / details.
Stoveguyy is correct. One screw is located directly under the control panel of the power windows and the other is behind the pouch at the outer end of the door on the bottom. You put your fingers behind the pouch and gently pull it out. If you never had the panels off, carefully lift them off since it's a common problem for the clips to break on these panels and could already be broken. There are some postings about how to repair them with metal clips. I did mine and posted some pics / details. Once the panel is off, the motor is right there.
