Burning rubber smell - 1999 STS

Hello. I'm back to the go to guys, with a different kind of guessing game, where the h*ll is that smell? So after I drive my car for a bit,(99 Seville sts), I can smell burning rubber. It dominates the drivers side outside of the vehicle up towards the windshield. I can smell it faintly from the inside when the windows are up. Can't smell it at all on the passenger side nor toward the front of the car. Not over heating, no smoke, no sounds, tires aren't rubbing and the car runs great. There was some sort of coolant bypass done at the dealer by the previous owner, or so they say the dealer did it, and it doesn't get hot at all. Maybe a touch past half way mark. I do add a little coolant about once a month, but I don't smell coolant. I've had enough crappy cars to be able to identify and locate a smell you shouldn't smell, but I'm stumped. Any advice for a direction of action would be greatly appreciated as I'm starting to lose my mind. Thanks in advance, great ones of the Cadillac forums.

I would inspect the water pump drive belt.

A somewhat common problem is the rusting out of the two heater pipes that run behind the engine along the rear head. They are almost impossible to get to so a lot of people will replace ("bypass") them with rubber hoses. They run right above the exhaust manifold.

When I hear "it smells like burning rubber" its almost always an oil leak dripping on a hot exhaust manifold.

Didn't think about the rubber hoses. That would be logical. Same with the wp belt, too. I'll inspect asap and post my findings. Thanks guys, as always, I appreciate it.
