I thought it might be interesting to post avg. MPG, just to compare... List the year, model(Seville, STS, SLS, Eldo, ETC, ESC, and any i might be missing) miles, type of gas you run, and any performance modifications youve done to your Northstar powered Seville or Eldorado. Thanks.

21.4MPG, 1996 SLS, 54,400 mi, mid-grade/premium, no mods... yet.
I find it interesting that im getting 2-3MPG better than my grandmother did when she drove the car

Re: How many MPG are you getting in your N* Seville/Eldo?

1996 STS with no mods whatsoever. 110K miles. My average right now with mostly city driving in Spokane is , according to the computer, 20.4 mpg. I went to Banff last thanksgiving and decided to take a tour along Hwy 1. For the 50 or so miles I drove, I averaged 30.3 mpg believe it or not. I use regular gas.

Re: How many MPG are you getting in your N* Seville/Eldo?

Well, I drive really fast, so my mpg usually suck's pretty bad. On the highway, I usually average about 23-24mpg, driving about 75-80mph.

My gas mileage was horrible this last tank of gas. It was city driving, and I think I may have averaged about 13mpg. I filled it up with 16.5 gallons of Premium, and I only got like 220 miles out of that damn tank. Oh well, the next one will be better...hehe.

Re: How many MPG are you getting in your N* Seville/Eldo?

1995 Eldorado ETC, 100K, All tuned up, fuel rail recall just done, no mods except for a K&N. readout shows 18.6 mpg. checked mileage the old fashion way and it was within 0.1 or 0.2 of the readout.

20+ mpg. I wish. ~40 miles a day. 1/2 stuck in traffic. 1/2 highway at 70mph.

30+ is hard to beleive. I don't think Caddilac makes hybrids. Reseting the mileage via info center will give incorrect readings until the PCM collects enough data.

Re: How many MPG are you getting in your N* Seville/Eldo?

Why would you be surprized that you are getting better mileage than your grandmother? You don't have to be a hot rod to get lower mileage than other people. Not compensating for grade changes as they come has a huge affect on mileage, something that reflects my mother's driving habits.

01STS, modified air box, and I have no clue as to its mileage. Before the modified airbox, I took my mother on a trip and, using "Mom's in the car driving habits, I got damn close to 30 mpg, if not a little more. The modified airbox has decreased mileage some. I don't know how much, but I knew that increasing flow will decrease mileage before I did the mod.

Re: How many MPG are you getting in your N* Seville/Eldo?

I was getting 14 city in my 95 ETC, this tank I'm getting 16 for some reason. I have used 7-11 premium and diamond shamrock regular. This tank it's Route 66 regular. If it goes back down with the next tank of 7-11 gas I'm going back to 66.

I'm gonna get a new EGR valve, plugs, wires, and a new air filter fairly soon so we'll see how it does then.

At 60mph I get about 32, 70 it's 27, 80 - 25, 90 - 23. At 150 I get 12.

Re: How many MPG are you getting in your N* Seville/Eldo?

My '96 Seville has 94k now, I get 17-20 in town depending on traffic, ambient temps, etc... I was not surprised to see the previous post state 30 mpg, I routinely get 29-31 at highway speeds ranging from 60-70mph. Lest you think it might be less power giving better mileage, I went the track for a test and tune session, first time ever with this car(the battery was dead on my '67), I had a best run of 14.79 @ 98.6mph!

Re: How many MPG are you getting in your N* Seville/Eldo?

Yeah, posting your average highway speeds will help a lot on this thread too.

My readout ranges between 18 and 23, depending on how fast I'm driving on the highway (that's with about 30% city driving). Lately I've been driving a little faster (85-90), so my MPG have been going down (18.8 this morning).

I drive a '03 STS with ~30K using premium gas.

FYI, MY initials are also M. P. G.

Post Re: How many MPG are you getting in your N* Seville/Eldo?

98 ETC, just turned 71000--minutes ago.

On a 600+ mile road trip (round trip), going 75-80 most of the time with the ocasional invigorating 95+MPH passing maneuvers, but making a few stops through towns I got 29MPG (average speed was 65mph after all the slowing downs, construction zones, etc). I did use cruise control, any time possible.

In the city, I live really close to work (5-8 minutes), so it's mainly parking lot driving as well as a couple of street lights... my MPG go down drastically at parking lots and take-offs... I see the avg go down by decimals every few seconds or so. My takeoffs are very low, smooth, gradual power takeoffs, accelerating to a dozen or so mph faster than the limit. Only when someone tries to show off, do I put them back in their place with a smooth, high-power takeoff.

Bottom line.. city (parking lot) driving with a little highway averaged out now and then is around 17-18 MPG.

I do love to step on it when I can find an excuse--i.e., merging lanes on the highway wooo! I love the way the exhaust sounds when I step on it! Or when jerks on the highway tailgate (but you have someone ahead of you so you can't help it), then you manage to get out of there and make the jerk eat dust!

On the hwy, at a platform speed of 60-70 mph my ETC is a monster--very responsive acceleration to 85-95 in seconds with lovely WOT sounds!

Do any of you set the Display center to "INST MPG?" With today's prices, it's almost depressing to drive around parking lots, or to accelerate from a standstill... I get really low numbers at either place (5, 8, 9, 10, 12 INST MPG). It's only on the highway or boulevard driving that it gets decent INST MPG (20s-30s and above when idle cruise).

I just yesterday, after reading Bbob's post about tire inflation (going higher than the door jamb, within the tire's limits), got my inflation up to 35PSI (from the labeled 30PSI), and I hope to see an improvement. Road trip this weekend (600Miles roundtrip) so I'll keep anyone interested updated.

-Alex

Re: How many MPG are you getting in your N* Seville/Eldo?

1999 SLS with 38K miles on the clock.

City/highway mix: 20.2 MPG

Recent 350 miles roundtrip road trip, all higway mileage, at average speed in excess of 65 mph (per DIC readout): 25.9 MPG (Add'l info: No passengers. Trunk lightly loaded with my travel bags and laptop. Riding on Michelin HydroEdge tires @ 35 psi, some rain and cross-winds during trip).

All city (stop & go) driving: 17 MPG

My wife wants to "take over" my SLS and "make" me drive her YUKON XL. Reason? To save gas. I told her to stop making those twice-a-day trips to Starbucks

Re: How many MPG are you getting in your N* Seville/Eldo?

I drive a 2002 STS / 23k miles in Germany and get about 17 mpg using premium gas only. I have a mix of 80% Autobahn (Highway) and 20% city. On the Autobahn i drive approx. 110 to 120 mph.
