this was orlando / daytona area | How funny! If they're all the same price, try them all, one tankful at a time and see what the differences in power and MPG are. |

I get great highway mileage when using cruise control @ 70 MPH (26 MPG + average not unusual). |

Are you guys just reading the average mpg from the cars computer, or are you actually filling the car up after a specified interval. I have had a 97 ETC for about a year now and have kept track of mileage the old fashioned way, and recorded the car's calculated mpg as well. The numbers differ at bit, both higher and lower than actual.
(Actual mileage is when you fill the car yourself, topping it off in what ever way you can repeat, resetting the trip odometer, and driving. At the next fillup, do it yourself, topping it off the same way, and recording the gallons and miles traveled.)
I've reset the average mpg value when on the highway and have seen it go to 26 mpg, once to 28. But I find that the car gets much worse mileage under ANY acceleration, and your average at the end of a tank will be much lower.
The bottom line is that I don't think these cars get "28 mpg". That doesn't make sense. You may be relying on the trip computer which may have some errors. The fact that a Cadillac can get in the 20s at all is amazing. My dad had a 70s caddy (don't remember the exact model but it was maybe 20' long and had a 472 cu v8) and its gas mileage might have been listed as "Not Applicable".
btw, my 97 ETC, 2/3 highway, 1/3 30-40 mpg roads gets 22-23 mpg. |

...Melissa gets about 22 in the Deville, and her company supplies her with with a fleet gas card, which is really nice..

How the hell ya'll get 20mpg? Do never ever touch the gas and accelerate down hill to gain speed and then set cruise? |

What kind of driving do you do? 16MPG - is that city? hwy? both? My STS gets 24-26 driving 80-85MPH. That calculation is both by the car computer and by the old-fashioned way. |

I drive a 2000 Cadillac Seville STS with 75,287 and i run Shell V-Power 93 octane or sometime Sunoco Ultra 94 in my car since shell gasoline has five times the amount of additives in the fuel to clean your engine while it burns. Its five time higher then the goverments mandated amount of fuel addititves. I do not have any performance add ons yet.
I get in the city 18.4mpg and the highway around 24.9mpg |

24 mpg on hilly interstate when driving quickly to the airport about 100 miles north; 26 for same trip when not rushing. 28 cruise set at 70 on straight to infinity, dead flat interstate through the MO bootheel which is mainly former Mississippi river floodplain cypress swampland drained in 1900--now mainly cotton and rice farming. |

The last time I actually put it on the road the last tank of gas from North FL back to North GA the AVG MPG on the computer hit a peak of 27 before getting caught in Atlanta traffic. On the trip to Fl I learned that the octane of the gas you're running makes a big difference on the interstate. On the way down I was running 89 octane and averaged 22.5-23. Once filled with 93 mileage jumped to 26+ with the cruise set at 80 running the air. Around town the grade doesn't matter as much but still keep premium in it now. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
