My 00' STS with about 105,000 on it gets 14mpg city.. But if it's only highway it gets 24mpg.. Still need to change fuel filter and plugs though.

Re: How many MPG are you getting in your N* Seville/Eldo?

I have taken one long trip in my 97 SLS, and I ran mid grade on the first tank and got 26.5, premium on my second and got 29. So I figure it is cheaper to run the premuim. I have been getting about 18 around town.

Re: How many MPG are you getting in your N* Seville/Eldo?

I live in Southern California, so gas milage is thrown out the door, but I get 16.5 around town, 18.5 mixed, and 21.5 on 20-60 mile freeway trips.

I haven't done a long trip yet. But everything is new under the hood (North*), I am going to fabricate ram air soon.

Re: How many MPG are you getting in your N* Seville/Eldo?

Hi, I am getting 14.7mpg on my 97 SLS. All city driving with heavy traffic. I went to Boston, MA last year and I got 30.6mpg cruising 70-80 mph. It was great! I was surprise it did that well.

Re: How many MPG are you getting in your N* Seville/Eldo?

IMO, what "kills" the MPG averages are cold starts, parking lot maneuvers, idling (drive thrus), and what gear you're on if you're in town.

Lately I am very gentle on the gas, and barely press it enough to keep accelerating until I get to overdrive (4th). At 4th gear, I back off enough to keep a speed of ~40-45 MPH. Mind you the speed limits on these streets are 35MPH.

I may get 17 MPG AVG one day. Next morning I turn the car on, and I see the MPG average go down... one decimal, two decimals, three... etc... and by the time I'm go through all the speed bumps and wait at the intersection to actually get out on a real street, I've lost close to 1 full MPG in the AVG or so.

When the car is cold it spends a lot of gas to get it up to operating temperature for emissions reasons (to light up the cat, etc). This is not considered in the EPA rating--I think their test involves a car at operating temperature.

So my tank average? ~15-17 all city closer to 18-20 80cty/20hwy mix and if I reset it and do a 300 mile trip cruising at about 75 with few stops it will be up in the 27 MPG AVG per tank. 1998 ETC, 94K

Re: How many MPG are you getting in your N* Seville/Eldo?

With my STS, I'm getting:

22-23 at 85 MPH
24-25 at 75-80 MPH.

In town, I get about 19-21.

All this on mid-grade (87 Octant) gas. Premium (91 octane) doesn't improve mileage. It seems I get about the same with regular gas (85 octane).

Re: How many MPG are you getting in your N* Seville/Eldo?

I disagree about the premium, I have run several tests on this, and consistently got better mileage with premium. On my last trip I got 26.5 with mid-grade and 29 with premium. These engines were desined for premium after all, it makes sense that they will run better.

I don't worry about gas mileage because it takes the fun out of driving.

In florida, 87 is regular, 89 is mid, and 93 is premium. (No 85 octane available.)

Re: How many MPG are you getting in your N* Seville/Eldo?

No surprises. I live at 6200 feet. Octane requirements decrease with higher altitude.

I just ran two tanks of 87 (midgrade). My highway mileage has increased to 25.6 MPG at 85 MPH, round trip. It has also been quite a bit cooler. My STS ROCKS.

97 Eldo Standard 82k, 23 City 29 Flat Highway 70mph. Hilly Highway, 28.3 70mph. Got Better Mileage Without Cruise Since You Should Accelerate Before You Hit An Upgrade And Should Be At The Speedlimit At The Crest Of The Hill.
