I recently had some lost distracted driver t-bone my beautiful 1983 eldorado and total it. It was a dream and only had 47,000 miles on it. As sad as it is I have to get over and get a new. The insurance is giving me a very low value for the car. I think it's worth far more, but I start school in 10 days and don't have time to fight it. Anyways, I was wondering if you guys could supply any opinions or thoughts on the 2 cars I have found close by. One is a 1993 eldorado with 117,000 miles for $3,950.00 and they other is a 2001 ETC with 123,000 for 4,800.00. I've done a carfax on the 2001 and it only had 2 owners and was serviced every year at the dealership. I haven't been able to check the other one. Which one do you guys think is a general best bet to last longer just based on those facts alone. Of course, when I go to check the vehicles I will run DTC codes and do some general inspection/test drive like checking for overheating, oil leaks, checking coolant tank and radiator for any signs of copper/stop-leak usage. Is there anything else I can do a general check on? I've been checking out the forums for a few months regarding the 83 I had. I got lot's of advice reading around old posts on the ht4100. I won't know what the codes mean exactly. Unfortunately, I only have the FSM for the 83.
