OP should really take car buying advises from Aztec ETC ECS, probably him and some member from California (sorry forgot the ID) got the best 2 deals ever in the history of a collectors edition ETC (~S10K for super low mileage collector’s edition…you don’t see that every day).
    Aztec ETC ECS likes this.

Yeah, a 2002 etc with 60k miles just sold here for 9k. I didn't go for it because it had been wrecked in the front end at some point a few years ago and I didn't want to take the chance on it before looking at the 2001. I also didn't think it would be sold because it's been at the dealership for sell since Feb.

Well, the 2001 is not calling me back anymore to check it out. I just saw a 2000 eldo went up. It's got 143k miles (20k more than the 2001), but it's only $2,500.00. Do you guys think this could be a good deal or is it completely worthless to go for one with 143,000 miles? Obviously, I would need to check it out first and see if there are any major problems. This one is also only 20 minutes away so it will be far easier to get it checked out.

Even the 120K car could be a maintenence nightmare. Inspection and test drive, like any other used car, same drill.

Well, unfortunately, I'm now a DeVille man. Found a, seemingly, good deal on a 2001 DeVille. It hurts, but hopefully works out. It was a mechanic's lien. So, basically $5,000+ work was just done and I got the car for $3,200. Hate to leave the Eldo forum, but I guess them is the cards. I may sound crazy, but that '83 handles better than any 2001 I've driven. The bad part is that the 2001 has a 2002 engine with less miles. The good part(s) it had the transaxle, engine, rear struts, etc. replaced by the local Caddy dealer mechs. So, all the fluids, etc. have just been replaced/flushed. I know it's not the perfect situation, but all the eldorados seemed to disappear. Again, I thank all of you for your advice and I await even greater advice. I will try to look any issues up before posting "new" issues. Thanks Caddyforum.

You will learn to like the DeVille.
I was sold on the Sevilles until we ended up with a DeVille.

Most of my issues thus far are with the stupid VTD/Anti theft system. I think there might also be an issue with either the mount on the engine or trans. Other than that everything seems fine, but GodDamn this thing still doesn't drive like my 83. Not even close. That 83 was perfect.
