    Backup relay in located on the relay clusters (I believe cluster no 2) on the electronics bay. Basically is one of the relays behind the rear seat backrest. The door sill thing is a circuit breaker (just 2 wires attached). A relay will have a minimum of 4 wires attached (2 for controls and minimum 2 for the contacts).
    You really need a FSM, can't fix anything withouth the schematics.

    Yes, you should get the FSM from http://www.helminc.com

    It will pay for itself the first time you have to use it for a repair.

    I just checked eBay and there are several sets for sale.

    I have a 2k eldo and had a similar problem couldnt figure it out untill I found one found one of the relays warm after the car hadnt been driven in days. Turns out it looked good on the out side but was totally corroded on the inside keeping power on. Had a similar problem with my headllights turning on by themselves corroded headlight relay.
