Remove factory bose rear speaker on Seville

I meant to spend some time in my garage this weekend flipping through the FSM to figure out how to remove the rear speakers, but ended up sick and in bed. Can someone quickly breeze over how to remove the factory bose rear passenger side speaker on my 93 Seville? It crackled for a while and finally died the other day. I plan to replace it with one from a salvage yard, but first need to know how to remove it. Thanks

The speakers should be removed from the top.
To so do you need to remove the rear deck cover.
To remove the rear deck cover you need to remove the rear seat back rest. The cover does flex a bit enough so you can bow it in the middle to clear the sail panel covers (the FSM will indicate to remove them but you don't need to).
To remove the rear seat back rest you need to remove the rear seat bottom piece (you need to gain access to the 2 bottom bots (also anchor point for the seat belts). The rear seat removal is super easy, just grab the seat on each side (one side at a time) and push it in as you will shove it underneath the back rest then pull up the front side. That is it just 2 spring tabs and is released.
To gain access to the rear seat back rest top 2 mounting bolts you need to remove the trunk liner covering the underside of the rear deck (thus the bottom side of the speakers) and the rear side of the back rest.
All in all 10 minutes job.

Thanks for the info N*. I am familar with taking out the back seats from running the backup camera for my Navigation install which you may remember from 2010. Three more quick questions:

    - Are both rear speakers (passenger and driver side) interchangeable?
    - Besides the Sevilles, did Eldorados and Devilles use the same rear Bose speakers during those years? Just in case I cant find a Seville in the yard.
    - Do the speakers plug in via a simple socket or do they connect in a more complicated manner?

I looked at the back speakers the other day and I believe they just plug in via clips but I may be mistaken.

Re: Remove factory bose rear speaker on Seville

Are you seriously having follow up questions about the damn speakers?

Yes are interchangeable left/right, no are not interchangeable front/rear
    These speakers are used on:
    '92-'97 Seville
    '92-'02 Eldorado
    '94-'99 Deville
There are BOSE speakers and Base speakers, totally incompatible (except the size and mounting). No you cannot install BOSE speakers instead of base or the other way around although will fit mechanically.
The BOSE speakers are not just speakers, there is a magnet attached to the back of the speaker.
So yeah to replace the speakers (amp and all) is just a matter of unclipping a 4 wire connector (there is a release latch). To replace the speakers and keep the amplifier (transfer it from old speaker to new one) it is a bit more involved.

Turns out it was the amps that were bad. I replaced the passenger side front (been dying for years), and the passenger side rear. Also picked up an extra rear amp. Takes about 3min to remove the rear amp and 5-10 to remove the front.
