    2001 STS codes and problems

Thanks for the welcome, you guys are "cooling my jets" and I'm feeling like "Cool Harry" and it was the HG along with a faulty intake manifold? I had the feeling I was going to have an "uphill battle". I'm still going to do like you said (Cabbage) and "pull the coding" just to know for myself what's truly going on. Love the Crimson Cabbage! What's sad is I'm faced with a 2k "project" or buy a cheap car and NO car I've seen even comes close to my 12-13 year OLD car.

Re: Hey Guys! The "head gaskets" brought me here!

Hey, Thanks! The troll "got" me! The day a close friend of mine was going to fix what he thought was an intake manifold problem, was the day the troll came from under the bridge and foiled my aura of hapiness!

If you do a top overhaul on a 2001 engine it will last forever.

It may not be head gaskets - do the suggested code pulls and diagnostics first - the SES is the suspect in this case - something emssions-related is setting that.

THANKS!!!!!!!!! And the mechanic, who is a solid friend said its the gaskets. Its the only repair he actually WON"T do! LMAO He said he's tried it a few times and it's been more of a heart ache than profit. The actually call my mechanic "Cadillac Benz - and everything in between" but he won't do the gaskets or install the engine.

Yes to the coolant leaks, bad idle, OVERHEATING...It still runs but the coolant does too! lol I've been so BUSY with life lately that I haven't pulled the codes as of yet, but will do so within a couple days.
