    Tell me I'm Crazy

After reading a thread or two the last couple weeks about Premium vs Regular Unleaded gas, I put a full tank of regular in for the first time on Friday. Now here is the "am I going nuts" part. I could swear that my 99 ETC is running better on the Regular gas. I can't put my finger on it exactly, but it just seems faster/smoother/quicker or something to that effect. So tell me what is causing me to notice something that doesn't seem possible.

Weather might have something to do with it. Cooler temps outside? Humidity change? Maybe you were getting bad gas before?

Butt dyno. The engines have a knock sensor that keeps the ignition advance within safe limits. Even in the pre-2000 engines with the 10.3:1 compression ratio the actual difference between regular fuel ignition trim and premium is miniscule....... BUT, as in all the pre-2005 owner's manuals, if you do trailer towing, mountain driving, or sanctioned race work you should spike the tank with premium for the duration.

    well - even if the BUTT-DYNO isn't 100% accurate -
it DOES prove running Mid grade or Premium grade gas
gives you NOTHING in the way of advantages over running regular -

that alone just saved you 20 to 40 cents per gallon -

Ever notice how much better it runs when it's freshly washed & waxed?

I've ran regular ever since that thread. I'm about on the 5th fill up now and have noticed absolutely no difference- in either mpg or the way it runs

You're doing it wrong. Clockwise on the drivers side, and counter clockwise on the passengers side.

Yes, always opposite the rotation of the tires or you will disturb the tire balance

This link will help you get the most from your car. The online ordering feature saves you from walking 32 aisles at DeadZone trying to figure out just which bottles and cans of snake oil and goose grease you need to buy to get that extra 1.2 miles from a tank of gas. (of course, that extra 1.2 miles costs $12.99 + tax, but what the heck ..........)

Since starting this thread I have noticed also that women seem to be noticing more and even looking at me more seductively. Maybe it has something to do with just being a regular type guy now.

    Re: Tell me I'm Crazy

EVERYBODY's wrong !!! When you wax you gotta polish straight - front to back, parallel with the ground. That lessens air drag and saves gas mileage as well as giving a higher top speed. Circular polishing makes the car drive in ........ circles.

    Sheeesh !!!!
