oil pressure and overfilling on a 97 eldorado

My oil pressure light started blinking, 97 Eldorado with 127 k.
I have been reading the forum, and changed the op switch with a napa switch.
No change, ordered a Delco switch from Rockauto. It is not installed.
I checked the balancer bolt, and it is tight, but did not torque, couldn't lock the flywheel.
I found an old thread from 2003 with the same problem, and by overfilling by one qt the light stopped blinking.
I overfilled 1 qt. this morning, and the light has not flickered.
If this fixes the light, one extra quart won't harm the engine.
    Really strange.

Drain the extra quart of oil, and install the Delco sensor.

Oil level has nothing to do with oil pressure, and the extra oil will be sucked up by the PCV system anyway.

I understand that the extra qt has nothing to to with the oil pressure, but i wonder why the light stopped flickering. The only thing that I can think of is that it raises the oil level in the pick up tube slightly.I will leave it until the new switch arrives. I have big hands, and the job is a pain in the ass.
    Oh well.

What you are talking about is overfilling the crankcase by 8 qt's for a total of 16. That is done if you loose oil pressure due to as stuck open check valve causing the pump to loose it's prime. That will bring the oil level up and over the pump so it can reprime and draw oil and hopefully reseat the check valve. One qt will do absolutely nothing. I suspect your problem may be that you did not use an A/C Delco switch.

Again the thread from 2003 stated that by constantly being a little over high mark on the dip stick the oil light stopped flickering until it went down half a quart, and it will start to flicker again.
Ok it's probably a wifes tale. I am going to install the new switch, and possible torque the harmonic. If the problem persist I will disconnect the light,so I don't have to look, and listen. There are no engine noises.
In my opinion the car is not worth an engine overhaul.

That thread is incorrect. Post the link if you have it.

Forget the balancer. They are torqued so damned tight they never loosen up without help (unless it was recently worked on).
