That doesn't make sense to me, but if that's the case, then I stand corrected.

The process is known as diffusion which is the mixing effect resulting from molecular activity/motion.

To demonstrate, gently place 20 drops of food coloring on top of 6 ounces of water in a clear container. Do not shake or stir or apply any external pressure.

Leave the container undisturbed for an hour and observe what has color change takes place in the fluid. What happened to the 20 drops of food coloring?

The only reason to stir cream/milk into coffee or water into Scotch is to speed up the mixing process.

Drain the system, replace the MC, EBTCM, hoses and calipers, then THOROUGHLY flush the lines.

Re: 99 STS - where is my brake fluid reservoir ?

The system might be able to be recovered BUT it will take a good mechanic, dedication, time, and a LOT of DOT 3 brake fluid with a pressure fluid bleed machine. As posted, every piece of the system with any rubber/synthetic rubber must be replaced. Personally, I would disconnect, isolate and flush out every brake line (the steel ones) before installing any new part.

My advice on the GOOD mechanic: This exercise is NOT something for a novice to learn on - this is expert car repair. No bones about it.

$125 is likely. try rockauto, they range from $45 - $200 for a new one. Don't buy re-manufactured.

I would have gone with ACDelco too, but they are much cheaper at RA if you can wait a few days.
