    Eldorado door window adjustment

Does anybody know the proper way to adjust the height of the door window. I've been adjusting it but I'm not sure if there is exact specs or not. Thanks, George

I am not exaclty sure what you want to do? As far as I can tell, you need to use the power window switch

98 Eldo procedure may be same. Here it is- (98 Shop Manual)

After removal of the trim panel, speaker assembly, and water deflector according to manual directions, the window upstop adjustment follows:
Important: the window upstop adjusters are color coded-front adjuster is neutral, back is black. The adjuster has a 6mm head. One full turn is equal to 1mm moverment of the glass. While facing the door inner panel, the following conditions may be observed: clockwise rotation moves the window up and vice-versa. Slightly lower the window in order to relieve pressure before moving the adjusters.
removal procedure #1. remove the roof rail weather strip, #2. insert a 2.6 cm wide (1 ") roll of masking tape in the weather strip retainer assembly #3. place the window in the full up position #4. close the door #5. measure the gap between the edge of the weather strip retainer assembly and the top edge of the window. ensure that the gap is 3mm #6. if the gap is not within specifications, perform the following steps: #6.1 determine the necessary amount of movement for the assembly #6.2 adjust the upstops as needed
Then reinstall the water deflector, speaker assembly, and trim panel.

If your 99 is not the same, try to access the shop manuals on other threads in the forum for the same procedure in that manual. Good luck!

My 97 eldorado is definitely different from your detail. The adjustment is counter clockwise down, clockwise up. All that is required is to adjust the front or rear of the window with the 6mm silver bosses at each end of the door. Take the interior panel off but no need to do all the extra stuff like remove the water shield panel. As you can see the window has torn through the triangular insulation/ weather strip. I don't know if this is because of the dealer adjusting the window to address wind noise but it's what I suspectt as the majority of panel tabs are broken.

I'd like new weather strip behind the mirror but that may be hard to find. Both doors are torn. Would weather strip adhesive work to bond the tare? Anyway, check the photos for an update.

I suspect that the OP either fixed it or it is long gone by now considering that this is a 7 1/2 year old thread. How in the world did you dig this up?

Ha! I always get yelled at for not doing my research. The wind noise and torn mirror weather strip is still a common issue.

    Just worked on this today.
