HELP: '95 Seville AC compressor

Okay, here's the latest revelation...

This problem with squealing and noise, and more noise and greif, yada, yada, yada.
I have now discovered (me poop head ), that my problem is unmistakebly the AC Compressor.., SH_T ! ! ! .

So, what I need is an intelligent proposal (tips, tricks, W-H-Y), that will help me to get this thing out of the engine compartment.

I presently have the Rt-Frt corner of the car disassembled, ie; wheel off, inner fender well out, and so on.

The problem I'm now faced with, is the disconnection of the pressure lines from the pump (after I get it out of course).

The next predicament is, considering that the shaft may be hooped (hopefully not, right), in any event.., what would be the best and most cost effective solution ?. Should I go out and buy a 'Clutch Kit' and take it all down to a shop for re-fitting.., or should I just go and buy a complete rebuilt unit ?.

Either way, it's going to hurt (the 'ol pocket book, that is) I'm sure.

Any/All support here would be immensley appreciated..,
Thanks in advance,
Dale.

Re: HELP: '95 Seville AC compressor

My dad and I just got done fixing my compressor as it was exhibitingthe same symptoms that yours was. I don't know if you had read my previous post regarding this/alternator removal, but we managed to get by with putting another pulley on as the inside retaining on the pulley had become unwelded and there was no way to fix it. We scabbed another pulley off a 90' seville (evidentally GM used the hr-6 compressor for many years)and reinstalled the bearing, cover and pulley and it is quiet as a mouse now. I really don't know how to get the compressor out, because we looked at it and it looked like a freakin' bear. My dad's buddy had a special tool for taking the outside cover off of it and reinstalling it...essentially like a power steering pump/pulley removal tool. I actually have a compressor w/clutch if you end up needing one. Wish I could be more helpful.

Re: HELP: '95 Seville AC compressor

You know what, I just might want to take you up that offer (not sure right now). I'm having a real difficult time just now, trying to understand why the y tucked these components down/under and so far out of the way... The puller tool you're talking about would sure come in handy (been trying to track one of them down for a couple days now). Know what, now that I'm looking at this mess, I kinda wish it was just an alternator (easier fix I'm sure), But W-T-H.., this is part of the price paid for driving Americas finest automobile.
Anyway, thanks for your time and experience...
