Front Window gets little hazy inside after wiping it down every couple days or so

Why? Solution? A/C is running constantly......and it hasn't been raining or anything. Real obvious that window isn't real clear with thin filmy haze.

What are you cleaning the windows with?

Using any protectant on the dashboard?

Any air freshener in the car?

Any sweet coolant smell in the cabin?

maybe the PO wiped some anti-fog crap on the inside of the glass -

I ran across a car with that stuff on it years ago -
and it took glass cleaner and a single edge razor blade to scrape it off -

It can be a sign of bad heater core. Keep an eye on your coolant level.
This time of year around here anyway is bad for the windshield to fog up a lot of the time and you end up either running defrost or leaving the front windows open a bit while driving.

I haven't cleaned the windows yet. Just wiped front window off with clean cloth to remove haze. It cleared up instantly but returned in a day or two or three.

I will try a little windex on them tomorrow and get them real clean.

A persistent haze on the inside of the windshield, particularly during your posted A/C operation, is a sign of a failing heater core. The haze is a film of ethylene glycol - coolant, to be exact.

If YOU have to clean off the film, it's coolant; if the A/C - DEFROST vents will clear it, it's water condensation.

Next time take notice of the film. Is it somewhat oily? If so, that's coolant steam and you have a leaky heater core. I'd almost bet on it.

What is entailed with fixing a leaky heater core? What would I need to replace and what might it cost me to have my mechanic do that? Any ideas?

You'd need to replace it. There are several threads explaining the procedure. It's pretty simple on your car, accessed by removing the glove box.

Before we all assume its a heater core, I would verify the A/C condensation drain is not plugged up. The compressor should run all year long. It does this to dry the air thats circulated thru the car. Dry air will prevent windows fogging. does water (condensation) drip from the drain after the system's been on awhile? Coolant also has an odor and you've not mentioned smelling anything.

    I'd clean the window first.

Again, air freshener in the car?

    Protectant on the dash?

I think he is saying that you SHOULD leave it in AUTO all year long. At least that's how I read it.

Why leave it in AUTO, accelerate parts wear, and lose some little advantage of power and fuel mileage in the 6 months of the year that A/C is really not needed - of course, if someone never opens the windows, the point is moot.
