cranking too long before t kicks over{intermittant)

    My 97 SLS NEEDS HELP
I recently had a new fuel pump and fuel filter installed because the car would take about 2 minutes of cranking before it would start. After the new fuel pump and filter it would start right up but during the same day if I went start it up it would take about 5 seconds of cranking before it kicked over. Now,some days it will start right up and other days it will take a few seconds of cranking
before it turns over.Any suggestions will be greatly apprieciated.

    Thanks
    Pauli

I wouldn't worry too much about a few seconds of cranking time -
but to answer your question - a couple things come to mind -

IF you have a leaking fuel injector -
the fuel pressure - after you shut off the engine -
COULD be bleeding off through that bad injector -
flooding a cylinder - adding to cranking time -

another possibility is the fuel pressure regulator -

If your long cranks times are only in hot starts, check for a leaky FPR.
