    Power Window Switch

Driver side window button started acting up three weeks ago. Started cutting out going up but would resume functioning. Never a problem down. Last week I couldn't get it to close so I took the control out and unplugged the switch and reinstalled it. Passenger side perfect, no up in driver side. Ordered one from RockAuto. Put it in today and nothing different. No driver up, passenger good. Put the old one back in and played around a little and the window activated up in spurts, not every time. Got it closed and tried the down mode and it was perfect. Took a while to get it to close again. I'll leave it up, if I can remember. Like sporadic contact somewhere.(but not the switch because the new one did the same thing) Where do I look now?

FSM schematic may help. I check windows using a jumper to apply power direct to motor. A guess is motor failure.

My guess is it's a bad motor.

I'm glad you brought this up, I have a 96 Eldorado and it has been doing the same thing for a month now. Today I had to press it 5 times for it to go up and it would only go up a little each time, but it rolls down fine.

    Re: Power Window Switch

I've had similar problems in my 96 Seville SLS. When the window got stuck in the down position and rain in the forecast, I had to do something. I removed the entire switch panel from the door. Then took apart the switch that was the problem. The contacts were dirty and burnt looking. The contact points were worn out. So I took the contacts from a rear window switch and switched them. Problem solved! other than the rear window I can't control, but never did anyway. I had to do it again about 40K later. The SLS has 227K and still runs strong, but it has now been benched for a 99 Eldo.
