Got wrong weatherstrip for trunk on 2001 STS ?

I ordered a replacement weatherstrip for the trunk of my 2001 STS. From what I read online, the weatherstrip was redesign in 2003 to include a large rubber flap which covers between the trunk lip and the rear glass.

The weather strip that arrived (GM p/n 25762219) looks just like the original - no rubber flap. It came from Lindsay Cadillac so I assume they know what they are doing (I try to support the forum sponsors)....

Can someone confirm if there SHOULD be a large flap on this part number? Was I shipped an old stock weatherstrip? Or is the redesigned weatherstrip not compatible with my 2001 vehicle? Wrong part number?

Help! Before I glue this thing in place I want to be sure it's right....

I can't find any reference to it...but a couple of forum posts suggest it is one piece with the weatherstrip (single piece of rubber which prevents water from getting into the gasket)

It's not "one piece' in my 2002. The trunk lip weatherstrip is one piece of formed channel/lip seal strip, seam at the bottom center. The long, curved flat rubber piece across the area below the rear window glass is held in place with STSM screws with dish washers sealed with liquid butyl rubber body sealer.

    Damn...more stuff to order...perhaps

Does the long curved rubber piece have to be installed BEFORE the trunk lip weatherstrip? or AFTER?

If after I might wait and see if the new trunk lip seal is good enough. Does anyone know if GM recommends adding that long curved piece (to a 2001) or is the new lip seal supposed to be sufficient?

    Thanks

After or before - it's nowhere near the trunk lip weather seal strip. Just make sure the weatherstrip is installed the correct way - if there are holes in the side of the collapsible "tubing" they go toward the inside of the trunk, and the little lip on the weatherstrip points to the outside of the trunk. The seam goes at the lower center latch position.

My 2002 (same as yours) was done under warranty and both the weatherstrip and rubber strip were replaced and sealed. My trunk is dry - both during washing and during some impressive thunderstorms as well as on 80 mph Florida runs on I-95.

Well I don't have the rubber strip to install, perhaps I will add that later. I'll start with just the new weather strip. In case anyone wants to see the TSB, here is a PDF:
