Got kind of an odd question, maybe somebody knows-
I'm looking for the size comparison of the insides of this GM key fob:
In relation to the pcb/insides of ours...?
By "ours" I mean this one
if you are asking whether or not you can -
swap the guts from your old fob into the one pictured at the top -
the answer is NO -
first the PCB obviously wouldn't fit -
and second - the buttons don't line up -
and anticipating your next question -
NO - you can't program the top fob to work with your Eldo
so - now tell us what you really want to do -
if you want a new fob case and touch pad because yours is worn and looks bad -
ebay has them really cheap -
Oh, alright I'll tell you - lol, fair enough
Nobody makes a switchblade / flip out key for the Eldorado. It really doesn't seem that difficult to DIY one, just need to find a shell that the pcb will fit inside.
Have to cut up a key fob shell for the button layout and cut out what's currently there, replace the key, etc. it'd be a project.
Closest I've found is this
But that $40 because there's electronics in it. I just want the plastic. The one above is only $10 but I don't know if it'll fit...
well - good luck with that -
Hahaha - I know, right?!
I've looked around for an after market switchblade key, and couldn't find one. Have a link to the one pictured?
Yeah, I've found nothing so far, thought the one above might have been for our cars.
It says its only compatible for a 2000 Deville
eBay item # 380347682414
There used to be one for the 1999 corvette floating around several years ago that I thought might work, had VATS key and everything- but it's no longer available as far as I can tell
I went through the same thing last year. I'm still using my factory fob and key.
If it works with an '00 Deville, it'll work with other years and models.
I sent them an email asking some specifics. If the internals are out of OEM fob, your existing circuit board could be swapped in, no programming necessary.
That's what I thought- *only for a 2000 Deville sounded strange. I've emailed them before, twice actually, but have never received a response.
The same thing can be found at ikeyless.com
With the same 2000 Deville only rap
And they don't return emails either - I'm assuming its the same seller
I can tell you this with 100% certainty -
the Cadillac model fobs use unique frequencies -
that is why a Deville fob can't be matched to a Seville or Eldo -
and a Seville fob can't be matched to a Deville or Eldo - etc -
and I will GUARANTEE you
no other GM fobs will work on any Cadillac model -
the ONLY shot you have at this working -
is if it was DESIGNED to accept your existing PCB - and keypad -
but - in the ad - it states it must be programmed by the dealer -
One of the questions I asked them.Originally Posted by basscatt
