So the internals that came in it were different than the original remote? Looks like the battery's in a different place.

    Re: Key fob transmitters

It came as just the shell- for the Buick remote internals
So I need to do some work on the front, and insides too- pretty much hollow it out

Why didn't you get the one with the button layout like the OE remote?

    Re: Key fob transmitters

    Because it's $40 -
The one I got was only $8

I actually did order one from that seller on ebay, but I never received it and after 2 weeks the seller said he was out of stock and refunded me.
Then I asked about the possibilty of just getting a shell with that button layout and I've yet to hear anything back. Seems flaky.
So imma just get down with a dremel and see what I can come up with, hehe

K, so here's my rough draft...
It ain't pretty but it works : )

Good god what a horrible job I did on the front, lol. I'm going to have to splice in the actual button layout somehow. The remote squeezed in there ok as I was hoping it would.
Made a keyblade out of a blank vats key with resistor popped out. Not necessary though, it'll fit fine with one in.
Switchblade action works great! Little filing here and there for nice fit - its pretty sweet!!

    Why?
    Think it's too bulky?

    Re: Key fob transmitters

    yes...

    1) it sticks out two and a half inches from the column
    2) i don't like how they feel when you turn them

plus i don't even turn the car on by turning the key ... i turn the cylinder with the ears that stick off of it
i just slide the key in and out
that puts zero stress on the key and the tumblers inside the cylinder

    Gotcha

I can't turn it since its just a blank so far, so we'll see how that goes... I was irritated that I couldn't find one anywhere for the life of me, so I made one myselfs- hmph. Not bothering me so far, I don't even really notice it from the driver seat

And I can't stop playing with it, hehe

    Re: Key fob transmitters

for future reference the key blank for our ignitions without a pellet in it (just a solid shank) is B62

so if you have bypassed the VATS then you can just use a B62 key

    Nice info, thanks-
I had one from the previous Eldo just lying around that never ended up getting cut so it was perfect candidate for experimentation

So now the question- how to go about getting the proper vats key cut..? And do I hack it up into a keyblade before or after - I don't really want to use my only key for that- yeah right?! Heh.
Think imma just get an eBay $10 special or two and file it myself...

Bypass vats and then you can use any key. Hardest part is laying on your back under dash.
