P0452 - EVAP system pressure control sensor

    I have a 99 Seville STS with 135,000 miles. I'm getting a code today.

I read on here that something is wrong with the fuel pump module multi-pin electrical connector or wiring. If you agree, where is this module located so I can take a look at it. Thanks in advanced for your help.

    Re: P0452

In your car, if there is no access hatch in the trunk floor just forward of the spare tire well, you need to drop the fuel tank to reach the module electrical connector.

Google "cadillac forums seville fuel pump module replacement" or somethimng close, always prefixed by "cadillac forums ................".

    Re: P0452

Wait. I think the '99 DOES have an access panel in the trunk.

    Re: P0452

Ok. There is a panel in the trunk floor forward of the spare tire well about the size of a basketball fastened by 5 bolts. I'm a bit confused so please bare with me. The car is running great so I'm not looking to replace the fuel pump. Correct? I'm just looking for a bad connector or wire that is causing the 0452 code. Correct?

    Re: P0452

    That's the access panel.

No, you do not need to replace the fuel pump, but I am not sure what that code is for. Maybe the tank pressure sensor? See what some of the other guys have to say.

    Re: P0452

I got this description from engine-codes.com which is different than sticky. P0452 CADILLAC Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor Circuit Low Voltage. Ranger is right! Now what am I looking for? And where? I'm sorry guys. One little code is making me feel stupid. Trust me, a donation to this site from me is coming soon. I appreciate your help.

Same definition, different wording. The tank pressure sensor is part of the EVAP system.

The sensor is on top of the pressure sensor.

    Re: P0452

OK. Tell me if I have this right in my head. The tank pressure sensor is on top of gas tank. I need to trace wiring from sensor and look for open/shorted harness or bad wire. Correct?

No. The sensor is on the pump assembly, IN the tank.

I would suspect a bad sensor before a wiring problem.

    Re: P0452

Here's what you'll see when you remove the access panel for the fuel pump module - "module": Fuel pump, hoses, strainer, fuel level sender, fuel tank pressure sensor, electrical connection.

Thanks Submariner! I'm going to change FTP sensor today and see if P0452 goes away. I'll let everyone know.

Re: P0452 - EVAP system pressure control sensor

I replaced the FTP sensor today ($40). Pretty simple since I have an access panel. I drove about 15 miles and the check engine light hasn't came on. In the past, it would come on every 2-3 days so I'll know if it's fixed soon. I'll post my results in a few days. Thanks guys!

I've driven a tank of gas since replacing FTP sensor and P0452 hasn't came back so it definitely fixed it.

Actually pretty odd for one of those units to go bad!

Re: P0452 - EVAP system pressure control sensor

    The 1998 - 2002 series (Seville ???) had a recall for just that sensor - recall # 03038.

The white sticker is the fulfillment info for my car .......
