    98 Eldorado gas filler neck

I have a PO442 EVAP leak and cannot get the car through inspection. My mechanic ran a smoke tests and said pinholes in the fuel filler pipe. He said he called the Cadillac dealer and they say that part was discontinued, not on the shelf and not available at other Cadillac dealers (they said they have a part locator system).

Can anyone steer me to a fuel filler pipe ? Thank you

Quicker and cheaper probably to have someone fix it.

Re: 98 Eldorado gas filler neck

Well it is a sad day, I have decided to get a new car. The 98 Eldorado is my everyday driver and it just needs too much work to justify fixing. Rear shocks, motor mount (too many WOT fits), front end work, driver window motor and radiator (damn plastic cracks) other than that it's great One of the best cars I ever owned even with the oil leak. Really a shame I do so love not having a car payment. Funniest thing is I always gets complements on the car and people seemed shock when you tell them it's 15 years old. Well I have had a Coupe De Ville, a Seville, an Eldorado, guess I'll have to give a CTS a try. Wish I could afford a V but I'll try to find a 2009 or 2010 304 HP 3.6

98 eldo to 09 cts is a big jump. So many 02 eldo's for sale. Could pick up a clean 02 for 5k or so or spend 20k on 09? Sure newer is nice. Probably zero wear issues on newer car.

Be weary of the 3.6L engine, they are well known for developing timing chain slack, even with the DI version in the 08+ cars. I went from a 2001 STS to a 2004 CTS 3.6 and it started clattering on cold starts at about 70k or so, also didn't like the lack of size, it just felt too small for me. I traded the CTS in on my current 2006 STS after owning the CTS for a year and don't regret it one bit! Got my Northstar growl back and some much needed size...Love my V8 STS

Well I was just going to off it to a dealer as a trade but if you really want it, I would love to see it go to a great home instead of getting crushed. Like I said it needs work (outlined above). Body is not bad except for a crack in the front bumper cover by passenger side fog lamp, also starting to rust up under the rear wheel well passenger side. Interior is about what you would expect for 145k miles, steering wheel, shifter and drivers seat leather all worn pretty good. It's White exterior and Shale interior

KKB says $3,200 Excellent condition, $2,250 in Fair condition for trade in value, I was planning on $2500 or so from a dealer in trade but we know how the trade in game goes. I am almost embarrassed to name a price as not to insult anyone. I'm assuming you just want it for a parts car. I'll check back to see if you really want it. I have not found a car yet so nothing is gonna happen tomorrow. Funny I went out with the wife looking for cars and the only car she would even sit in was a 2010 Lincoln MKZ but I pointed out it was not a Cadillac and made her walk home (just kidding).

Don't be worried about insulting anyone. I never am. I'd be surprised to see a dealer give any more than $1000 on trade given the mileage & work needed, $1500 private sale. If it was clean w/no or little work needed, $2500-$3000. Spotless- $3500
