    Mode door problem (wrong part?)

I first posted this under the mode door fix in the tech forum but its been a while and I haven't received a responce. I've got an 04 Seville. I followed the mode door fix instructions, ordered the mode door actuator from Amazon. Got the part pictured and I went out took the car apart and after getting the old actuator out I found that although they look the same the plugs were keyed differently and the old one had 5 or 6 pins in it not 2 like the replacement. So I pulled out the other 2 actuators and none of them have the same plug as the new one. So what is going on. Is there a different part I need to order? Thank in advance for the help.

That's because that forum is for Tech "TIPS", not questions. The sticky clearly states that.

I don't have an answer for you, but standby, someone will chime in.

You answered your own question. You have the wrong part. All of the actuators in the HVAC system in these cars use a stepper motor requiring three wires for operation. Two more wires are used for a position sensor, thus the five wires and six-pin connector. An actuator with only two wires almost certainly uses a simple reversible DC motor and there is no way to make it compatible.

I know what I had was the wrong part. What I wanted to know was is the 2004 actuator different from the ones shown in the tech tips forum? Also where can I get it at outside of a dealer or GM parts direct? Mine is also missing the part number sticker so I could use that info also.

    Get AC Delco only.
    Doormans do not work.
