    radiator cap psi

Could someone please confirm the radiator cap psi for a 2000 sts? Several auto stores have said 15 psi and several have said 18 psi. I had a 15 psi on the resevoir and it wouldn't hold the pressure (would boil out of the cap once hot) so I swithed to an 18 psi and had no more problems.

    Re: radiator cap psi

Sounds like the old cap was not holding pressure.

Your 2000 model year left the factory with a 15 lb pressure cap. Shortly thereafter Cadillac started assembling new Northstar equipped vehicles with an 18 lb pressure cap.

The only difference is the 18 lb cap raises the vaporization temperature of the coolant a few degrees. You are good to go.

Some years/models had 15 PSI caps. Either will do, your 15 was faulty.

    Re: radiator cap psi

15 psi /18 psi were both used from the factory. I believe late-2000 and vehicles produced later on have 18 psi, whereas 93-00 vehicles have 15 psi caps. The timeline might not be accurate, but they did use 15 psi back then. Your cap was faulty.

    Re: radiator cap psi

You'll have to do a bit of interpolation to get the exact numbers, but you can see that the difference between 15 and 18 psi is minimal.
