    97 Seville Bose system hissss...

The speakers always hiss when the car is off.. it makes the same sound as if the stereo is on and turned all the way down. It's a slight sound that can only be heard when I put my ear near the speaker, but it's slowly draining the battery.... any reason why? I don't wanna pull a fuse every night to stop battery leaching. How do I stop this?

No is NOT running all the time, is running all the time you are in the car.
Just wait for 10 minutes (no opening doors, no pressing buttons) and you will hear the hiss gone.
It starts in the moment you unlock the doors, or open the door if already unlocked, stops after 10 minutes of inactivity.
Don't worry it will not drain the battery unless you go in and out of the car every 10 minute for 1 day or so.
The hiss if from the amplifier, is ON and it has to be as even if the HU is OFF, you can still hear the chimes.

You need to locate the circut that is causing the battery drain. it may not be the amps.

Do you hear the hiss after the 10 minutes following the car being shut off?

Ok, maybe I'm overreacting.. I had my girlfriend vacuum and the battery wouldn't start the car after a half hour of music, and it worried me... I haven't waited the 10 mins to see if the hissing stops. Thanks bro-tatos.

Oh half hour doors open, lights on, stereo on, weak battery, you will get you in this situation.

Hi Tony and N*Caddy....I had the same problem in my '97 EL for 7 years, 4 batteries and 20 days. I read N*Caddys' post on turning off the cell phone. And it worked ! Thanks N*Caddy
