That is my ad. I put it up in a fit of anger over all the repairs and things breaking left and right. I haven't had any emails about it so will probably take it down...unless someone wants to offer me $12000.

Sure if you want. But I was kidding.

    ----------

I think if the vibration problem is licked I will keep it for a while and see how things go. As I've written many times here, I love the car, it's so beautiful. And today I found an amazing detail shop (a guy who details corporate Porsches, MBenz, Lexus, etc.) and once I have it detailed, polished, waxed, etc., I'm sure I won't let it out of my sight. But again, I posted the ad in a fit of anger over the never-ending repairs.

I was looking for a cheap pearl white Seville for under $4,000 to pair up with my black 03 STS, funny how I came across your Autotrader ad, remembered the rear spoiler thread on here and the unique one from CarID you put on, I think you have the only one in Ontario with a spoiler, I can't find the ad anymore, hopefully you'll keep your car.

@rayman, yah I deleted it after I read your post because I am going to keep the car...for now. In fact if you look at CarID and search for that spoiler you might now recognize the pics. I liked the final result so much that I emailed them pics of my car and they agreed, so they asked if they could use my car in the item description! It really looks great....although I know others disagree.

I am truly hoping that that was the cause of the problem, at least for now. There is still a slight vibration between 100 and 110 km/hr but seems to disappear completely past that. Car is riding fine for the moment, but I may still invest in new tires in the next few months, depending on how things go. In the meantime, this was the cheapest 'fix' I've done yet, for only $48 CA for the 4 wheels.

I'll update this thread if anything changes.
There you go, if the tires are 5 years old, might be the rest of the problem right there, good luck.

Thanks Gary. I really hope so. Damn I wish I didn't think it was such a beautiful car! LOL

    Have a great night.

Re: Outcome of dealer service visit today re: steering wheel shake

    OK I'm selling the car.

Independent mechanic (recommended here by another user) confirmed that it needs 4 new shocks, to the tune of about $5000 CAD. I'm not willing to do it.

He also said 4 new tires would be recommended for winter driving and that could make a huge difference in the ride as well, but again, I'm not willing to do that, especially for the time being they're ok. And there's no guarantee that something else won't go after doing that.

As much as I love the car, I am tired of the repairs. I don't have endless money, and yes I made a ginormulous mistake in purchasing it in the first place and then putting so much (wasted) money into it, mostly by going to dealership for service/repairs (also my mistake in retrospect).

Thanks all for your help along the way.

Maybe I"ll be back in a few years when I can get a used 2014 CTS

There should be a wrecking yard around there someplace.
Search the world for a price you can live with. Buy a shock at a time as you can afford them. Etc......
All cars need repairs and maintenance.

Bummer that you are giving up.

What will be your next ride?

    Used dampers are pointless.

Just out of sheer curiosity, why wouldn't I be able to use these (@ ~$400/ea) instead of the OEM @$1200/each?

Re: Outcome of dealer service visit today re: steering wheel shake

You probably could, but you would lose the F55 (Magnetic Ride Control) capability - and if you didn't replace the rear shocks with similar Monroe units the suspension would be grossly out of balance (front to rear damping capabilities).

Re: Outcome of dealer service visit today re: steering wheel shake

Right I would replace all 4. But losing the MRC would be a bad thing, IMHO. OK it was just a thought....I wonder what this car was like out of the gate. And if the people who were building it were on drinking binges that month.

    ----------

Another question. If the shocks need replacing, does this mean it's not safe to drive the car, or is it ok as long as I avoid bumps (which, btw, in Toronto is near impossible, the roads are in pitiful condition)?

    Thanks.

Those struts are not meant for F55 cars, F45 only.

Nobody makes after market F55 struts, or any form of electronic bypass.
