    check oil level

    hi , does anyone know if a faulty "oil level sensor" will throw a code ?? 2001 seville SLS VIN-Y. Thanks , Tim

    There is no DTC for a faulty oil level sensor.

    The primary crankcase oil level measurement device is the oil dipstick. The CHECK OIL LEVEL message display is a (often ignored) warning for those drivers that do not take the time/effort to do a "pre-flight" visual inspection.

    The closest thing would be P1617 - Engine Oil Level Switch Circuit. Although this doesn't always tell you if you have a faulty sensor - just bad/incomplete circuit which may or may not be present at the sensor itself.

    If I found that ^^^^ code, I'd suspect the level switch.
