    Codes...

    Got a message on the IPC to

    "Service Theft System, Car may not restart" today

    pulled codes and found

    IPC B2781 Current - Wrong Resistor After Good

    And

    MSM B2119 Current - Lumbar Forward/Aft Sensor Failed

    The B2781 caused the theft message ... if your chip pellet is worn down that can cause a bad reading a new key is the only way to fix that

    but sometimes the ignition cylinder wears down inside (the contact points that the chip connects together) and only a new cylinder will fix that

    a combo of the two is usually what happens in reality

    i would do a vats bypass if i were you (already did it actually and i never had any codes pop up... just a precaution against any problems)

    since we're no longer high profile luxury car targets of theft it's really not that big of a deal to defeat this security feature

    though it's your car ... it's really up to you

    gold keys are very hard to get these days ... GM hasn't sold them for almost a decade now

    Gold keys are as rare as hens teeth.

    Hard to tell from that picture, but it almost looks like the resistor is worn flat. It should extend beyond the black plastic it is encased in.

    I have a set of gold keys if you want them i'm just unsure on what kind of Cadillac it came from. Mint condition too never was even put into a car.

    Even if they're uncut blanks, they'd have to match the VATS value of the car they're going to be used on. You can measure the pellet's resistance with a VOM.

    Its as flat as the midwest plains..my spare is brand new

    Yup, cleared the codes then started using that and they havent come back

    yeah the metal center in the pellet should actually have a plateau or chimney on it...

    the main metal piece should stick up a tiny bit from the black pellet but in the center of the metal it should stick up again

    at least that's how they are when they're new

    Yup, that be yo problem then. Don't quote me on this, but I remember micing it once and I seem to recall a new one being either .090 or .070. If yours was flat it's definitely shot. The bad news is all the metal shavings are in the lock cylinder.
