Adding Aux input to 1998 STS

I have read a few threads and I think this is the diagram I need to use:
    (I have the bose system)

Couple questions, where is power antenna?
Where can I find a pinout for the 32 pin radio harness?

The only ones I can find online only have like half of the wires missing

    Would this one work?
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/BEST-KITS-BH...c81769&vxp=mtr

The other side of the cable is available with all the wires...

Need to recheck N*caddys posts about this, do believe you need another stock radio connector. I'm sure someone will chime in.

You don't have a power antenna.

Pin outs can be found in the FSM, and I'm almost positive they're posted in the thread you got that diagram from.

Re: Adding Aux input to 1998 STS

You have the correct diagram for Bose.
    Power antenna is pin F3.
You need 2 of that connector you provided in the link. Use the second one to get the extra wires/pins you need as one connector does not have all the required wires.
You will need also one female connector for the other side of the adapter harness (get a OEM one from a wreckyard, is far better than aftermarket quality).
You don't need the wiring diagram for the harness, all the other wires connect pin to pin from one connector to the other.
The only wires that go trough the AUX input board are the one mentioned in the diagram (HU):
    E13, F14, E12, F15, F3.
If you are confused on the RIM side, basically E13 (female) goes to C1:B5 (but you don't know what's that, is in the trunk) so for you C1:B5 is actually E13 (male) on the harness. You just "T" this board on the adapter harness, nothing simpler than that.

Re: Adding Aux input to 1998 STS

Why are the micro relays needed?
    Wouldn't this work?
    whatifo.jpg
(I'm assuming the 6 pins are a DPDT Switch)

Is there a disadvantage to shorting the L- and R-?

I guess if the jack fails you could end up with no audio,

but the same could be said about a relay depending on how it fails...

    Am I missing anything else?

Re: Adding Aux input to 1998 STS

This is the only reason why I used the microrelays, so I don't short the L and R ground.
Should be no problem and based on your diagram I see you really understood the circuit, should work just fine as is if you don't want to use the relays.
With the relays is a bit more fail-safe as the jack is likely to fail in NO status.
The other advantage of the relays is shorter audio wire length (between HU and AMP).

Re: Adding Aux input to 1998 STS

    Good morning!

Well, I'm gonna put this simply: I just bought an STS Seville -99, and now I want to put an aux input into the bose stereo. It doesn't have any cd-changer installed and, frankly, I don't understand the instructions previously posted since I've got no experience at all concerning things like this. Any chance for a "for the swedish moron" guide for this sort of thing? Would be mightily appreciated.

If nothing else works I was thinking to just use the FM-input, but I don't think that will generate that very great sound quality, so I'd prefer to avoid that solution.

    Thanks, Patrick

Why would you want to listen to staticy music?

    Bhelliom, does this help?

Yeah, FM modulators suck eggs, I have yet to find a single one that sounds halfway decent...Spent $75 on one with an iPod cradle years back, worst $75 dollars I've ever spent. I'd rather try my luck at a casino....
