Battery not charging, replaced alternator, 2 weeks later same problem

I have a 2000 SLS, 2 weeks ago I began getting the System Charge, battery not charging message. Using this site, I decided it was probably the alternator and had it changed. I replaced it with a OEM refurbished alternator. Everything ran fine for 2 weeks, now I'm getting the System Charge, Battery not charging message again. I have searched this forum and read just about every thread related to this issue, but have not been able to come up with a list of possible culprits outside of it being the alternator again (which it very well, could be). You guys help is greatly appreciated.

Check battery cable connections are tight and free of corrosion. How old is the battery?

The battery is a year old. No corrosion on the battery itself, its under the back seat. I need to check the other end of the wires though.

You have several modules reporting low system (as in battery) voltage. When the battery voltage falls below 9 Volts, various modules become unreliable and can and will set trouble codes in error.

If it was my car I would address the low battery voltage issue before I worried about the long list of trouble codes.

I noticed that too, but I assumed that may have been because the battery ran down when the first alternator went bad.

Wouldn't think a battery that went bad would last another two weeks after changing the alt, but checking it would be easier than a new alt. A bad cell can keep a battery from charging.

Can u check voltage while motor is running? If alt is not working, what is condition of battery now? Do u have it on charger? Did u change alt? Or shop? Does it have warranty? I have seen bad replacement alts?

Have the replacement alternator tested. I would have done that even before posting. I think you simply have a defective replacement. If that fixes the problem, erase ALL the codes. Then check for codes a week later.

Read on some thread that these Caddys need AC/Delco alternators. Some third wire thing.

    Other brands don't work.
Make sure your 'OEM part' is truly so.

My alternator went bad this week as well. I'm replacing it with a brand new 200 amp unit from Summit Racing. only 170.00 including tax. I"ll be tackling the problem as soon as it comes in (special order). Anyone have any experience with Summits alternators??
